Multimedia Contest has $1,000 scholarship award

My previous Editor-in-Chief at Arizona State University sent along information about this free multimedia contests.  Deadline Feb. 1.

SPOT 127 is now accepting entries for the 2016 Korva Coleman Excellence Awards! This national award recognizes outstanding digital media produced by young people ages 14-23. Winners receive a $1,000 scholarship, an engraved crystal Korva Coleman award and a trip to Phoenix for the awards dinner on Thursday, May 5, 2016.

We invite your students to submit multimedia journalism pieces in the categories of audio, video and online print. The deadline for entries is February 1, and there is no entry fee. All entries must have been published online in 2015. Entries can be submitted at:

SPOT 127 is the youth media center of KJZZ 91.5 FM, the NPR affiliate in Phoenix. We are an educational outreach program that provides low-income and at-risk teenagers with mentoring and instruction in multimedia production. We established the Korva ColemanExcellence Awards in 2013 in honor of Coleman, a newscaster at NPR who grew up in the Maryvale neighborhood where our center is located. Learn more about SPOT 127 at:
